Meals on Wheels Needs Volunteers to Deliver Meals

Meals on Wheels currently needs volunteers to deliver meals to elderly shut-ins. As the economy continues to slow down, many Meals on Wheels volunteers have had to return to the workforce to help supplement their families income, thus reducing the volunteer pool that delivers the hot meals daily to local shut-ins. Meals on Wheels is currently seeking new volunteers to deliver meals daily, bi weekly, or monthly. Please contact Aubry Good at 253-5286 or visit their website at http://www.mowabc.org/volunteer to learn more.

ABCCM Vets Shelter Hosts TailGate Farmers Market Every Wednesday 3-6PM

The ABCCM Veterans Restoration Shelter at 1329 Tunnel Rd. has a farmers tailgate market in the parking lot next to Zaxby's every Wednesday 3-6PM to sell local organically grown produce at a reduced rate to raise money for the shelter. Much of the produce is grown in a managed, organic garden at the shelter under the supervision and direction of leading organic farmers in this region. The Veterans Shelter houses 225 men on an ongoing basis while getting them back on their feet, employed, and empowered with the life skills needed to cope with everyday situations. It is a one of a kind program to help Veterans and Asheville is proud to be a part of that pilot program. Please read more about it under this site and donate today. Asheville Cares is Formed to Promote Asheville NC Charities

Asheville Cares was formed to promote awareness in the community about our many local charities, how to donate ones time, money, and resources to help those in need. The organization does not accept any monies or goods, we merely spread knowledge about charities that exist in and around the Asheville NC area. As we have found in our travels and volunteer work, many people want to help those in need, they just do not know how so this site was formed to make giving a little bit easier & also to show through videos & pics how we can make others lives better.

This site is an act of love to spread the word within the Asheville area about the numerous great charities that exist, promoting them through blogs, videos, photo's and articles about who they help, how they help, and how individuals can best donate time, money or materials to them. Please email us with any inspirational stories, photos, or videos about the great charity work that goes on within our community so that others can see that giving really does make a difference in someone life. There is no dollar amount that one can put on the feeling that you get when helping another in need, so lets all band together to help each other and show gratitude for the many gifts we personally have in our blessed lives. Visit us today at http://www.ashevillecares.org/ to learn more about the great charities in and around Asheville.
